He turns 20 in late February, and the likelihood that he spends most of the 2023-24 season in the NHL is quite high. While hes a driver of offense, Heinola is very steady defensively with great patience and positioning. He is a great two-way winger with excellent skating and enough energy on the forecheck to frustrate opponents even in the KHL although he is at least a decade younger than most of his opposition. He also has great puck skills and can make great passes or dekes while at his remarkable top speed. He certainly has the toolbox to do it as he possesses great mobility and a well-rounded defensive game. He suited up for the Vancouver Giants in the WHL last season and he didnt disappoint when playing meaningful minutes. PB, After playing in the top professional league in Slovakia for the two seasons leading up to the 2022 NHL Draft, it was hard to determine how Filip Mesar matched up against his peers since he has been playing against grown men for so long. He's trending in the right direction, with this tournament highlighting his strong case for a future as a top-six NHL winger. Winnipeg Jets first-round pick Brad Lambert was invisible. He is competitive and uses his size well against shorter and weaker Junior competition, and his playmaking from the perimeter on the power play is likely going to translate to the NHL someday. At the time of the draft, I believed Snuggerud projected more as a bottom-six checker who provided supplemental offense. We've also seen. He is a great goalscorer and has a shot that will likely give NHL goalies nightmares someday, but for now, he has to earn the trust of his coaches through consistency of effort and production. Spending all his time in the AHL with the Reign, he recorded six goals and 21 points in 32 games and had another 18 points in 27 games last season. Although the 19-year-old is a credible prospect, he was put unfairly out of his depth by being asked to center the top line, a spot he would have lost to at least four different centers on Canada's roster. Hes a great playmaker and an even better shooter with his release and accuracy.
